More Tips for Improving Your Golf Game Around the Green
Tip #1: Reduce Your 3 Putts
To reduce the number of 3 putts that you have in a round, put more focus on distance vs direction.
A good drill to improve your distance putting is the “fringe drill”. Step off 10, 20, 30 & 40 feet from the edge of the fringe. Practice putting 3 balls from these set distances to the fringe. You will quickly learn how big of a stroke it takes to roll the ball these distances. When you play your next round of golf, your touch & feel will be greatly improved, thus reducing the number of 3 putts.
Tip #2: Improving Short Shots Around the Green
When playing those delicate short shots around the green, always inspect the lie first before you decide what shot to play. Next, always putt when you can, it's the safest. Chip (minimum air time, maximum ground time) if putting is not an option. Pitching (maximum air time, minimum ground time) is always a last resort, because it has the highest risk. |
